    Apparently, painting stripes on the road works just as well as actual cattle guards for deterring cows. (See MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR, John Nichols, 1974.)

    How are you, JA? I just landed in Philadelphia on Sunday, direct and blurry from Scotland. Summer was delightful; jury's still out on the school year (classes begin next Wed).
